Romesh Bhandari, U.P. Governor, dismisses the Kalyan Singh Government and inducts an 18-member ministry headed by Jagadambika Pal of the Loktantrik Congress Party. BJP moves the Allahabad High Court. BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate, A. B. Vajpayee, goes on a ""fast-unto-death"".

9/24/1932	Poona Pact' was signed between Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. This historical agreement allowed increased representation for untouchables. Also, Gandhi ended his fast.

5/11/1999	Centre removes the West Bengal Governor A. R. Kidwai. The Arunachal Pradesh Governor Mata Prasad had also been asked to step down.
