Antara Nandy
Antara Nandy is a budding young playback singer from India. She often collaborates with her sister, Ankita, as the Nandy Sisters. As a solo artist and with her sister, Antara has many songs/originals available on all major music platforms. She has a number of compositions to her credit, and has won awards at many film and music festivals. Antara and Nandy Sisters have performed at numerous events in India and abroad.
Both Nandy sisters started singing for different TV Series since early childhood. Antara's first major public performance was at Netaji Indoor Stadium, Kolkata at the age of 9 years. At the age of 10, Antara shot to fame when she entered amongst the top three girls in the final rounds in the Reality Singing Competition "SA RE GA MA PA Lil Champs 2009" National on ZEE TV. In 2012, she was the winner of the "STAR WARS", an International singers award in a contest by DREAM CATHERS VISION in Singapore.
Antara sang for AAWAZ - a song raising awareness against abuse and atrocities towards girls and women produced by Jim Ankan Deka of Eastern Fare - Bangalore. This song won awards in various forums including the best music video in the Mumbai Short Film festival, Noida film festival and also in the USA film festival in 2013/14. She has done playback in a few films in various languages. She sang the first original : NIS DIN" with the great AR Rahman , She is also working with Rahman on a few different projects; Her first big jingle, the Apollo Tyre Jingle, features Sachin Tendulkar and is well-known throughout India.
Her first album released was "Ei Jibon Nohoy Xuna Bondhu" (this is not life my friend) produced by Dr. Amal Saikia of Encore Entertainments, in collaboration with Ms. Alka Yagnik, Ms. Kavita Krishnamurthy, Mr. Pulak Banerjee and Mr. Debojeet Saha. Antara's vocal performance received critical acclaim.
Antara is the youngest singer and ambassador of Alive India In Concert-I, Bangalore which was a movement by the musicians and for the musicians and performed to captivate the audience, the other ambassadors were greats like Abhijit Bhattacharya, Zubin Garg, Akriti Kakkar, Remo Fernandes, Kunal Ganjawala and others.
In 2019, the Nandy Sisters started The Balcony Concert, where they stand on their balcony, play ukulele and sing in different languages. It was an instant hit, and had millions of views and significant coverage by the media. The Balcony Concert is now a regular performance; They have already sung in 15 different languages - with plans to sing in more.
Since then, Antara has performed in TV programs such as Arrived and Jammin on SONY TV. She continues to write, record and tour as a solo artist and with Nandy Sisters.
